Blood is the New Black unveiled its Summer 2011 Lookbook “Teenage Death Cult” highlighting 16 graphics by artists curated by Justin Blyth. Drawing on themes of vanity, mortality, youth and religion, the campaign features the work of six international artists from Los Angeles to Amsterdam. In addition to the “Teenage Death Cult” collection, Blood is the New Black will be releasing over 100 designs by 30-something international artists as part of their Summer ’11 season. The “Teenage Death Cult” tees will be available in stores May 1st and retail for $44 – $50 and are also available for pre-order on Blood is the New Black’s website. Well into its sixth year, the art, design, and fashion powerhouse’s tees are available at Oak (NY), Colette (Paris), ASOS (UK), Delta (Japan), Harvey Nichols (Hong Kong), Neu (Taiwan) as well as online at www.bloodisthenewblack.com.
The collection includes works by Them Thangs blogger Justin Blyth, former Flaunt Magazine Art Director Todd Tourso, Cast of Vices jewelry designer Christopher Glancy, Thvm Rag Art Director Hassan Rahim, Dutch collage artists Miktor and Molf, and Minneapolis based fine artist Peyote. The tees are available for both men and women, in an assortment of bodies ranging from a dolman-sleeve crop top for women to a hand dip-dyed men’s tank top. All Blood is the New Black tees are sewn, dyed, and printed in Los Angeles.
“I’ve always loved T-shirts. From the time I was a stoned teenage skate punk rifling through the rack at the skate shop, to being a full grown adult in the one-click shopping age, it hasn’t worn off. There is something about rad shirts that never gets old for me.” Justin Blyth says. “When Blood is the New Black hit me up to concept and curate my own line for them I couldn’t have been happier. Drawing from the influences and concepts I share on my blog them-thangs.com , I pulled together the Teenage Death Cult collection, featuring shirts from myself and a handful of amazingly talented friends from across the globe.”
