Supremebeing have just released 4 new tshirts featuring artwork from their White Canvas Project LA Jam artists. Featuring printed inside back neck label and branding touch on back, they are limited for the season and cost £30. Grab them from here.
The White Canvas Project was originally set up by Supremebeing™ as a painting event to bring ‘street artists’ into the countryside and away from canvas and walls. The first event took place in a secret, rural location on the banks of the river Cam in Cambridgeshire, England. A disused boat yard was turned into an artist’s playground for four days where Land Rover bonnets, military helmets, vintage furniture and a whole host of other objects were converted from salvaged scrap into pieces of art.
In Febuary 2012 SB followed the first event by heading out to LA and teaming up with the iam8bit crew for the second jam and gallery show. Five days in the heart of LA to collect and convert the local salvage and scrap, ending in an art show the likes of which LA has never seen before… street art, fine art, conceptual art, body painting and straight up graffiti all shown together with the paint still fresh.
WCP Veterans SheOne & David Walker, along with the one and only Death Spray Custom, flew in from the UK. Meanwhile Mexican artist Memuco dropped his job as visual graphics editor at one of China’s largest newspapers to fly the other way around the globe. Joining them in LA were comic artist & illustrator Jim Mahfood AKA Food One (currently working on the new Tank Girl), the controversial Leba (known for his politically charged pieces) and the talented LA graffiti artist Kophyns One.
The iam8bit gallery was transformed in time for the opening event on Friday night, which saw a record turnout of LA tastemakers transfixed by the results of the week… and possibly the music, body painting and free drinks.
