ExploreIt’s Friday and it’s time for another interview. My guest today is Antonello Monni, a T-Shirt designer I met on Teepublic, also know as Karmadesigner. It was fun and different, just check it out. I’m pretty sure you’ll love this guy and his designs!
TH: Tell us a little about yourself (Where are you from? How old are you? Describe your job and how long you’ve been at it, ect)
Well, the actual Karmadesigner’s regeneration lives in the body of a human being somewhere half way between middle-earth and Hogwarts and his age is about 53 y.o. Karmadesigner’s real job is a bit difficult to describe….He seats near a highly technological communication device on a space station orbiting Risa the Pleasure planet and coordinate the arrival of many spaceships coming from different planets for their holidays.
TH: What was your first tee design that you created? What was the first design you sold? Show us some pictures!
One of the first (of the Digital Era) was Peace Sign
TH: The t-shirt business is really competitive. How do you differentiate yourself from others and move away from the pack?
I do not really mind competition because when i enter in the “Flux State” nothing really matters apart trying to stay there in complete connection with the “Divine” and so what comes out is just pure JOY …
TH: Describe the general process you go through to design and realize a piece of work.
Another hard question to debate… Sometimes I just wake up with a precise idea in mind and I just have to transform it into electronic bits, in other cases I start sketching geometrical patterns just to focus and suddenly something just pops out and takes a direction. After that it’s pretty difficult to control the process …
TH: What can we expect to see from you in the future? Where do you see your career going in the next few years?
Keep in mind that i just do it for fun and you’ll have the answer… One of the major triggers for me is to know that there are human beings out there that enjoy what i do and decide to wear a shirt with one of my designs …
TH: Any other advice, tips, or anecdotes you’d like to share?
Damn … the famous last question … the hated one … yeah … Eliminate question number 6 !!! : ) Joking … Yes for those who want to reach fame designing shirts: work hard, hard, hard … but enjoy it hard, hard, hard!!!
