In the distant future humanity has traveled over the vastness of space to find new inhabitable planets to colonize. But when they found planet Shear they found that they were not alone. The monsters living on the planet didn’t welcome the newcomers and they will do anything they can to get rid of them for good.

EVOLVE is a new unique cooperative/competitive survival shooter developed by Turtle Rock Studios for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It was released on February 10th 2015. The gameplay supports up to five players, four of which are hunters in their various forms and with various skill sets, and the fifth player is the monster. The goal of the game? Hunt or be hunted. Are you the killer or the prey?

But it’s not as simple as that. When you’re playing as the monster, your goal is to avoid the hunters, at least for some time. Stay away and get as many of the smaller creatures on the map as you can so that you eventually evolve into a much more powerful beast. This kind of gameplay means that the longer a match continues, the bigger the advantage of the monster is. Once it’s evolved enough, there’s almost no stopping it.

That means that when you play in a team of hunters your goal is the opposite. Find the monster as fast as you can and take it down. You will still need a good cooperating team, since each player has his unique skill set required to take the enemy out.

To be completely honest, the game is a lot more fun when you’re playing one of the badass monsters, but I guess the feeling of achievement is greater when you win as one of the hunters.

When there are less than 5 players, the AI takes control of the missing ones, and it’s a very efficient AI. The game has some amazing audio and stunningly atmospheric visuals, combined with a good multiplayer design, thrilling and tactical gameplay and you get a game well worthy of your time.
