Coming this summer, it’s the fifth installment in the Mission Impossible franchise. Tom Cruise who has recently taken a break from crazy interviews, is famous for doing his own stunts in all of his movies. In the fourth Mission Impossible movie, Ghost Protocol, he was running down on the outside of Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. How can they top that in the next movie, you might ask? Take a look at the impressive trailer.
Director Christopher McQuarrie said, when he was asked about the dangerous stunt:
“We knew anything we did was going to be compared with the Burj (Khalifa). But it’s not like you could wait for someone to build an even taller building. We keep pushing the envelope.”
In case you were wondering, yes, that is actually Tom Cruise hanging from the side of the airplane. He said in an interview, that he always wondered what it would be like to be on the wings of an airplane.
“That’s me the whole time. I was standing right over the tires when we landed. It’s nerve-racking for everyone else, but pretty exciting for me,” says Cruise.
Cruise also talked about the origin of the stunt saying, “I’ve often sat on airplanes, looked out and thought what it would be like out there on the wing. This is the stuff I think about.”
The movie will also star Rebecca Ferguson from The White Queen, as Ethan Hunt’s (Tom Cruise) female ally (kind of like a Bond girl), Simon Pegg as his ingenious sidekick (the Mission Impossible version of Q from the Bond franchise), and of course both Jeremy Renner and Ving Rhames are back for Rogue Nation.
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation hits the cinemas this summer (July 31). If you want to know about some of the other big movies coming this year, check out the article here.
