Fear the Walking Dead is coming out this August on AMC and it’s definitely one of the most anticipated shows this year. I can’t wait for it to come out as I was a huge fan of the original Walking Dead. The new show will basically have a new cast, a new city, but obviously the same zombie apocalypse. But here’s some of the reasons why Walking Dead was so awesome.

I have to be honest. I started watching season one, just to see what all the hype was about. I couldn’t get past episode three. It was just bad. Sorry, but it didn’t have anything that would get me hooked. About a year later I was bored and started watching again. That time I finished season one, but I couldn’t finish season two. Then someone told me that it gets way better in season four and five so I decided to give it a go one more time. And then it happened. I love the show now.

Like any good fantasy show, it’s not really just about the fantasy elements. Game of Thrones is not about dragons and the white walkers, Heroes wasn’t just about superpowers, Lost wasn’t about the Smoke Monster, and Walking Dead isn’t about zombies. It’s mainly about people dealing with a situation when their humanity is taken away from them.

The show has definitely learned from it’s mistakes. I didn’t like the writing and to be honest, I didn’t like the acting in the first seasons, but everything has seriously evolved since it’s beginnings. And like Game of Thrones, it’s unpredictable and likes to kill off it’s main characters. That’s one of the best things about it actually. It’s a zombie apocalypse. You don’t really expect anyone to survive in the end. Sooner or later the zombies should win.
