Twin Peaks aired on ABC 25 years ago. Hearing that might sound like a horrible thing, but it was just in the nineties. And it was a damn iconic show at the time. It was so iconic in fact that they are doing a reboot on Showtime next year. The pilot episode alone was watched by a third of American TV viewers when it aired. It’s a David Lynch thing. If you’ve never heard of him, think of the most bizarre dream you’ve ever had, and then think of somebody filming that, and making it weirder. The pilot episode actually had mispronounced dialogue and broken props in it, simply because it made it crazier.

You know how they got one of the main villains of the show? They accidentally show one of the set dressers in a mirror. I loved the show and I can’t wait for the remake. It’s just one of those things that are hard to explain to people, they need to see it to comprehend it. It was wildly ahead of it’s time. It was creepy, crazy, experimental and it had everybody hooked. It was also wildly influental. If you think about it, without Twin Peaks, there would probably never be a show like the X Files or Lost.

Twin Peaks became one of the top rated and most viewed TV shows of the 90s which is quite an achievement, considering how weird it was, especially for that time. Other very well viewed TV shows of the 90s include Friends, and Seinfeld, so it really was in a completely different world. Not to mention it had an awesome theme song. If you’ve watched any of David Lynch’s movies (think Eraserhead) you know how random he can be, and ABC is trying to get him on board for the reboot. If that happens we are all in for a treat.
