ExploreCould you imagine owning a PS2 and never having played God of War? I mean that’s just dumb. Or maybe the fact that I enjoyed the franchise so much is because of my own love for Greek mythology.
Anyway, since the original release in 2005, God of War allowed us to see Kratos’ epic journey for revenge through five games. It first caught my attention with it’s over the top cinematic brutality.
The first time I saw Kratos pick up an undead warrior and savagely rip it in half i was like “Damn, this game is epic!”, so I didn’t drop the controller until I finished the first game. By the time Kratos sets out to bring Olympus to its knees, the thrickery of the Gods have killed his wife, child, mother and his brother and made him a slave. So he decides that killing the Gods it’s not nearly enough for his own suffering, he must destroy the world they represent. Warriors and monsters fall, cities are destroyed and Gods are murdered, all by my hand. Well, my hand controlling Kratos’ movements and swords.
I actually enjoyed destroying the Greek mythology and I enjoyed the virtual violence and savagery of Kratos’ revenge. Does this make me a bad person?
