ExploreDoctor Strange is perhaps the most unusual of the Marvel super heroes. Not because he’s strange as the name suggests, but simply because he is very different from the rest. He has no real super powers, he can’t fly, he’s not super strong, he can’t stretch, he’s not bullet proof. What he has, that no other super hero has, is magic.
Before he met the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange was an unlikable and egotistical neurosurgeon. Everything changes when a car accident limits Strange’s use of his hands, sending him on a maddening quest for a miracle cure. This origin story introduces the magical and mystical realms of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The movie is set for release in November 4, 2016 and the cast will include Rachel McAdams, Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange, Mads Mikkelsen, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo. While Tilda Swinton confirmed her role as the Ancient One, she also said:
I’m a Marvel fan and I think this particular world that Doctor Strange goes into is really, really, really exciting. I’m really interested as both an actor and a fan to see what’s done in this particular world. It’s all about creativity. It’s not about everything exploding at the end. It’s about something very different.
I for one would love a Marvel movie with a focus on the story line instead of just special effects. That’s why I also have high hopes for Suicide Squad. I like a darker movie with my super heroes. I also happen to love Benedict Cumberbatch in his role as Sherlock, so I can’t wait to see how he pulls this one off. If everything goes well, this should certainly be a movie to see next year. The only downside might be that Doctor Strange isn’t nearly as famous as Batman, Superman, or Captain America, so it’s a question whether it will draw in the audiences.
