ExploreWho needs a hug? Well, everyone. Sometimes a hug is all what we need. Awhile back I was on my way to work when I saw a group of kindly looking students holding up some plancards saying ” Free Hugs ” and they were offering a hug to everyone who was passing by.
At first I was cynical. I mean what if they were pickpocketing? Then I just stopped for a second and thought about it. Is this the world I want to live it? A place where I can’t trust anyone? A place where I have to judge everyone? I mean, it’s a hug, how can it hurt me?
That moment I noticed that everyone was cynical about it. I smoked a cig while watching the students offering free hugs and not even one person accepted it. It was then when I decided to go there and get a hug.
After I got my free hug the girl told me that I was actually the first person to accept it. She told me a little about this Free Hugs movement, how it all started and what’s its point. It brings people closer together and breaks the boundaries of race, sex, ethnicy, social class and so on. It’s a sincere campaign and when you’re sincere in your message, you don’t only attract attention, you also get and sustain loyalty.
