Well no, we haven’t run out of t-shirts. We just thought it was an awesome movie. If you’re not too familiar with rap, Straight Outta Compton is a movie based on the real life rap supergroup N.W.A. (N****** With Attitude), which had Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Easy E, MC Ren and DJ Yella in it. The movie, like the group is all about what it was like to grow up in Compton, California as a black teenager.

To be more specific, it’s all about what it’s like to be black in Compton when it comes to the police, who would stop them for being black while crossing the street. They were fed up with it, so they used their music to fight the system. Their rapping skills based over hardcore tunes were ground breaking. One of the songs (F**k the Police) even got the attention of not only the police but even the FBI.

Whether or not you like rap, this is an important, powerful movie to see, especially since the “walking while black” problem isn’t going away in America. If anything it’s getting worse. It seems like there’s a story about the police killing a black person every other week for no other reason than the color of their skin.
