Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters! If you haven’t seen this classic 1984 horror comedy, you really shouldn’t think you’re any kind of movie buff. It is one of the most ultimate cult movies of all time. It’s the movie that turned Bill Murray from a Saturday Night Live star comedian into a true movie star. Without it we wouldn’t have movies like Lost in Translation, Groundhog Day, or St. Vincent.

Even the music to the theme song is so damn catchy, not to mention it has a pretty good video. Oh and by the way, if you’re looking for a really cool group Halloween costume, Ghostbusters will be sure to bring up some nostalgia from the people around you.

It’s simply one of those really cool, really fun comedies that you defenitely must see, like Back to the Future, Blues Brothers, Wayne’s World or Bill and Ted’s Bogous Journey. Perhaps what’s most special about it, is that it uses big flashy effects, which are usually sudden death for a comedy, but in this movie, they somehow work. It had that original idea about what if Manhattan was swarming with ghosts, and the only people who could stop it, were a bunch of nerds. An idea that is still copied today, most recently by Adam Sandler with Pixels.

If you’re about to watch the movie for the first time today, the special effects might seem a bit weak, and since it was made in the 80s which were a lot less politically correct, the jokes might seem a bit racy, but that should definitely not stop you from enjoying the awesomeness that Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd bring to the movie. In it’s own way it still holds up very well even in today’s time, and for my money’s worth, it blows Pixels out of the water.
