In short, it is the longest-running science fiction series in American history. But to many, it is so much more. It has the legend and lore of aliens themselves, and the X-Philes still lurk out there today, celebrating its triumphant return… You may be one!
After one of the biggest shows of the 90s was cancelled, rumors and lawsuits went flying. Though a lot may be said about a series as eccentric as The X-Files, boring is definitely not one of them. The mysterious and paranormal was the norm for the hit show, and it captivated millions, quickly revealing that aliens and a bit of romance (Sculder, anyone?) fascinates a little bit in all of us. The Smoking Man and the Syndicate haunted our dreams with their unnerving alien invasion, but they kept us wanting more and more and more…
Then all of a sudden it’s back! After an eight year hiatus and nearly twenty-five years after the original series premiered, The X-Files is making waves with viewer ratings off the chart and a storyline just as brilliant and memorable as Season 1. It came out swinging hard, reopening the government conspiracy with some powerful guest support from Joel McHale and Annett Mahendru; next came a sinister scientist with some (more than slightly) horrifying practices; most recently, we were treated to episode three: “Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster.” Without giving away any spoilers for those of you who may have missed it, just know that Mulder and Scully start with a routine animal attack, soon venturing into the disturbing (as always). And make sure to keep your eyes peeled and ears open for any- should we say- lethal easter eggs… We won’t keep going, just catch up soon!
But alas, it’s unfortunate the revived miniseries can’t last longer. Fortunately according to some insiders, the end isn’t quite here. Nope, wipe away your tears! There is some talk of another spinoff in the works, and hopefully it’s only a matter of time.
So until then, we’ve rounded up the best shirts we can find to commemorate such a storied series. Now go make the most of the next few episodes, and find the “truth” that’s out there with some empty houses, mysterious lights, and spooky t-shirts!
