If you’re like me, there are certain characters in Game of Thrones that mean a lot to you. And if you’re like me, you learned really hard and fast that it’s a bad idea to like them. But there are characters, like Arya Stark, that you have to risk it. And I’m sure everyone freaked out last week as she was stabbed numerous times at the end of last week’s episode, and then we were left on a cliff hanger. A whole week waiting to know if she was going to live or die. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait almost a year like we did with Jon Snow.
After struggling through a crowded market place, literally bleeding to death, she made it to the actors, where she is found hiding by Lady Crane, the actress she saved. Lady Crane, who seems very fond of Arya, treats her wounds. She reveals that she has a fondness for bad boys… and for stabbing them when they get rowdy. Hence, she is an expert on nursing stabs. The two have a bond and Lady Crane appears to be the first person in a very long time that Arya seems to trust… Which is what makes what happens next so sad.
After a day of nursing Arya, Lady Crane goes to check on her. However, The Waif is there and kills Lady Crane. If you were already hooked on Lady Crane and she was your new favorite, I am very sorry for your loss. Arya hearing the struggle goes to the other room to see Lady Crane brutally murdered and The Waif standing over her. The Waif says that if Arya did her job, Lady Crane wouldn’t have had to suffer a painful death and that the many faced god now requires a new name- Arya’s! Arya leaps from the balcony, crashes into the market place and runs for her life across the city, down numerous alleys, stairs and crowded streets. The Waif follows, determined to kill Arya. To make Arya’s survival much more difficult all her wounds reopen and she begins to bleed out again. After the epic chase across Braavos, Arya leads The Waif to her hiding place in the city and pulls out her sword, Needle. The Waif closes the door behind her and before the two can fight, Arya distinguishes the one candle in the room. They fight to the death in the dark.
In the final scene we see Jaqen in the House of Black and White, following a blood trail, which he assumes to belong to Arya. He follows the trail and instead of finding Arya’s body, he find’s The Waif’s face, all bloodied and missing her eyes, added to the collection of faces. Arya killed The Waif. You all may now applaud!
In a sense of pride over Arya killing The Waif, Jaqen proclaims that Arya is now truly “No One.” Arya immediately rejects and says that she is “Arya Stark, of Winterfell! And I’m going home!” That’s right folks! After two seasons of being with Jaqen and the faceless men, Arya Stark has embraced who she is and is going back to Westeros! That’s means we can all get our Arya Stark T-Shirts and get ready to geek out as she heads home!
So, what does this mean for the future? It’s been hinted that “No One” will be Arya’s last episode for this season. However, her return to Westeros can only signal epic things as she joins the ongoing battle to reclaim her home. Could we possibly see her align with another major player? Will she reunite with her siblings? Will she reunite with The Hound and form the greatest team ever and eat more chicken? Or will she go after the Iron Throne? We will have tom wait and see!
From our collection of game of thrones t-shirts, we bring you some epic ones to wear with every new upcoming episode:
