I survived San Diego Comic Con 2016. And I have to say, this was probably the most fun I’ve had there in a few years. Probably because I followed my own advice and kept my expectations low. Still, I ended up doing and seeing a whole lotta stuff.
For me, Sunday is pretty much to buy any last thing I hadn’t gotten around to purchasing yet, then getting the hell out of dodge before traffic gets crazy. But Saturday. Oh, Saturday was quite and adventure.
As my usual tradition, I started my Saturday morning waiting for The Simpsons panel. That meant I had to “camp out” in the Once Upon A Time panel:
As well as the Vampire Diaries panels.
Don’t worry, I was respectful to fans, sat in the black and worked quietly on my Friday Blog until The Simpsons gang showed up.
It was mostly producers, as well as creator Matt Groening.
But we did get one voice actor. Nancy Cartwright!
Not a great photo, but you probably know her better looking like this:
The big news from The Simpsons pPanel is this Halloween Treehouse of Horror will also be their 600th episode. Damn! Wait until you see the James Bond-esque opening credits!
The only thing better than getting to see Tom Ellis once at Comic Con, is getting to see him twice. As I did, when I got into the Lucifer panel (by the skin of my teeth). Most of the gang was there, including Tricia Heller.
Everybody’s favorite Cylon from Battlestar Galactica will be playing Lucifer’s mom.
The Gotham panel followed that. No big spoilers for Season Three, just that there will be two Bruce Waynes, Nigma will start with a clean slate and Ivy and Selina will have a new dynamic. It was great to see the baddies together:
The last panel I attended was the IDW Doctor Who and Torchwood panel. Mostly because John Barrowman was there. And as always, he (politely) hogged the spotlight. He and his sister are working on a Torchwood limited series that he hopes will be a springboard for the new series. Here’s hoping!
After that, I spent the rest of Saturday playing on the floor:
And the theme of the weekend was steampunk Batman.
See you at SDCC 2017!
