19 Memorable Finding Dory T-Shirts Because The Oscars Forgot Her!

by on Jan 28, 2017

This week the Oscar nominations were released and as excited as we were about some of the films and actors getting recognized, we were also dismayed by the many snubs. We can all agree we’re upset about Amy Adams being ignored after two great roles this year, and it’s sad that Martin Scorsese was passed over. But I think the biggest, most outrageous snub was: Finding Dory.

Finding Dory, Pixar’s wonderful sequel to Finding Nemo received great reviews and continued Pixar’s string of hits. Maybe it wasn’t the most original of stories, but it was fun, funny and heartwarming. Yet when it came to voting for Oscar nomination time, people were as forgetful about it as Dory herself.

Well I’m not going to let the memory of Finding Dory fade. It took us 13 years to get this sequel to Finding Nemo, but further proof of Dory’s unforgettableness. Voice by the spunky Ellen DeGeneres, the quote of her forgetful fish (“Just keep swimming!”) became a mantra for anybody facing a stressful situation. We couldn’t get enough Dory. So we got more! (You thought I was going to say “morey” didn’t you?)

So I went fishing and caught a bunch of great shirts of Dory and her friends who made a splash on the big screen last year. Baby Dory as a big-eyed little fish was just adorable.

Dory’s quest was to get back home. She conquered many obstacles to find the shells that lead her back to her parents.

The theme of this movie is no matter how far away you swim, home is where the heart is.

Dory and Nemo may have given Oscar caliber performances, but their support cast was pretty amazing as well.

Dory’s main sidekick in her solo film was the grumpy octopus Hank.

Though he began helping Dory for his own self-serving purposes, we all knew he would have a change of heart in the end. Granted, some complained that the movie, uhm, jumped the shark when he got behind the wheel of a truck. Suspension of disbelief, people!

Then there’s Gerald. King of the rock. The mammal that was reluctant to get off, off, off.

But my personal favorite character in the film was Becky.

She made me laugh until my belly hurt. I wanted to see more of her. Here’s hoping in thirteen years we’ll get Finding Becky.

And let’s not forget the amazing performance by Sigourney Weaver.

Any good sequel, answers lingering questions from it’s predecessor. Like how did Dory learn how to speak whale.

So I don’t get why Oscar snubbed our dear Dory and friends. Well, they may not win awards, but they will continue our hearts. Just keep swimming.
