In a recent message from BioWare, Aaryn Flynn announced the long-awaited arrival of a new Mass Effect game, Mass Effect: Andromeda.
On behalf of our teams across Montreal, Edmonton and Austin, I’m excited to announce that Mass EffectTM: Andromeda will be launching in North America on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 and beginning Thursday, March 23, 2017 in Europe. We appreciate your patience (and in fact, even your lack of patience in some instances) as we’ve been focused on completing the game.
BioWare has focused on creating Andromeda to be a completely unique game in the series. There’s going to be new characters, new planets to explore, new species, new plots, and even a new gameplay system. “Mass Effect: Andromeda is our most ambitious Mass Effect game to date,” Flynn said.
Here’s what we know so far about the game:
- Andromeda will be the first of the series to bring the game to an open world environment.
- The player will either play as Sara or Scott Ryder. The player will have complete free-reign to choose any skills they want.
- The player will explore the Andromeda Galaxy via a ship called The Tempest on a quest to discover new worlds for the human race to colonize. There’ll be quests to encounter, resources to pick up, and bosses to fight.
- The game takes place 600 years after the events of the first three Mass Effect games.
- BioWare is letting fans pre-order the game.
