Master Plan:
- Step 1: Graduate.
- Step 2: Take over the world.
Congratulations, grads, you’ve made it this far. One half of your master plan is over! You’re one step closer to your goal of world domination. In fact, you’re so close, you can probably taste it. Right? Right?
Okay, maybe we’re exaggerating a little bit. There might be more to do, still, like, a lot more. You might not have all the steps down and laid out in front of you. The path might not be completely clear, but that’s okay. You’ve got this. You’re an adult!
If you’re wondering what to do next now that your life isn’t dominated by homework, lectures, procrastination, studying, and late-night trips to taco-bell, you might want to consider catching up on all that beauty sleep you missed while you were working on that first half of your plan for world domination.
Then, you’re going to want to take a day or two to bask in your new-found freedom. Do something crazy. Maybe plan a trip to Europe or Asia. The world is your oyster. You have so much time!
Don’t let the student loan panic set in. Don’t. Let. It.
You’re okay. You’ve got time. You’ll just need to find a job with that awesome new degree you worked hard on. Or you could make your own start-up. The world’s so much bigger and so full of opportunities. You’ve got the internet at your fingertips. There’s no limit to what you can do if you just have a little bit of creativity and know-how.
You already have those things. We know you do because you survived college, and that’s no easy feat.
Now, all you have to do is find your niche, figure out what you do best in life, start a career, and change the world. There’s so many paths to take. There isn’t any one straight shot to success like there was fifty years ago, and that’s okay. It’s actually a good thing. You have more options than ever before. You just have to think outside the box, figure out what you love, and go for it.
In the words of J.K. Rowling:
We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better…As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.
Good luck, Class of 2017. Go and do something awesome. We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you. We know it’ll be epic.
