“My skin has turned to porcelain, to ivory, to steel.” – Sansa Stark
In just a little over a month, Game of Thrones Season 7 airs. HBO has begun its countdown, airing one season a week until the pilot hits television screens across the world. It’s the most anticipated show of 2017.
Here at TeeHunter, we’ve got a countdown of our own. We’re highlighting some of our best Game of Thrones tees. Last week, we gave you 18 badass Jon Snow t-shirts. This week, we’re talking about yet another Stark: Sansa.
We’ve really seen Sansa blossom since Season One from a slightly (slightly?!) annoying thirteen-year-old girl to a shrewd young woman who knows exactly what she wants and how to get it.
Sansa has grown a lot over the series, learning who to trust, who to take advantage of, and how to navigate the politics of Westeros as easily as a Greyjoy ship navigates the sea. At the beginning of the story, she was just a pawn for other characters. Cersei used her to write letters to Robb to try and convince him to surrender to Joffrey. Joffrey used Sansa to get Ned to admit to treason. Littlefinger has used Sansa for all sorts of ends.
In the end, however, it was Sansa who managed to use everyone else to get back to Winterfell.
Sansa has changed remarkably, too, in her attitude toward her family. At the beginning of the series, Sansa hated pretty much everyone. She thought Arya was ugly and stupid, she looked down at Jon for being a bastard, was annoyed with her little brothers for being…well…little, annoyed with her parents for telling her Joffrey was a bad person to have a crush on…the list goes on and on.
As she progresses, though, Sansa learns that the only people she can truly depend on are other Starks. When she finally reunites with Jon at Castle Black, it’s one of the most emotional scenes we’ve ever seen on the show. She doesn’t care one bit anymore about Jon’s parentage. He’s a Stark, same as her. He’s someone safe. She can trust him. Sansa knows now that that’s the most important thing in the world.
In Season 6, we truly see how much Sansa has grown. When a letter from Ramsey comes demanding that Jon return Sansa to him, listing all of the horrible things Ramsey will do if his demands are not met, Jon can’t even finish reading it. It’s Sansa who’s strong enough to take the letter from him and read Bolton’s words aloud for the group to hear, words that end up stirring anger in the hearts of Jon’s friends so that they rally to his side.
Without her strength, and without her political shrewdness in calling Littlefinger to their aid later, Jon might have never have survived Battle of the Bastards.
When Jon wants to give up, it’s Sansa in Season 6 who convinces him not to. She reminds him of everything that’s truly important. We can see that it’s Sansa, and not anyone else, who truly holds the North. It’s not Littlefinger, or the Boltons, or even Jon. It’s Sansa – the eldest surviving trueborn heir to House Stark, who has come into her own. She’s strong now, just like her lady mother was, just like she wanted to be.
Sansa has shifted over the series from a passive pawn to an active force in the plot, and that’s all any of us could ever ask. These tees below truly do her justice. So, have a look. You won’t want to miss some of these awesome designs!
