27 T-Shirts That Are a Bunch of Hocus Pocus

Most Halloween movie viewing nights consist of hardcore horror films like the Halloween, Friday the 13th or Saw series. Or perhaps some of the more classic Black & White monster movies (Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman). And if you want something a little more family-friendly, you’ll give The Nightmare Before Christmas a whirl.

But there is another quintessential Halloween movie that is a family treat this time of year: Disney’s Hocus Pocus. It’s a spooky fun comedy about three witches, known as the Sanderson sisters, who want to absorb the souls of children in Salem, MA, in order to keep their immortality. It’s a silly, goofy family comedy, but it certainly captures the flavor of Halloween.

One of the main reasons for that are the three witches. These are not the three ugly hags from Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Granted, they aren’t very pretty, but under all that make-up are three beautiful and phenomenal actresses. The lead sister, Winifred, is played by Bette Midler. And who can forget her wonderful quote: “Oh Look! Another glorious morning! Makes me sick!”

Her sister, Mary, is played by Kathy Najimy, hot off her “almost stealing the show” performance in Sister Act, and before her voice brought Peggy Hill to life. Their third sister was Sarah, played by Sarah Jessica Parker somewhere between being a Square Peg and a sex and shoe-obsessed New Yorker.

Though it is actually the story of Max Dennison, played by Omri Katz (best known as John Ross Ewing III in Dallas) who after accidentally waking the three witches makes it his duty to stop them.

Hocus Pocus may not the Casablanca of Halloween movies, but it is a cult classic, especially at this time of year, of course. But like all properties, there is often talk of a reboot if this one. Hocus Pocus 2 has been rumored for decades. There’s now talk of a television series. (Hope they keep in on longer than Eastwick. Remember that one?) And I know here in Hollywood, there’s an unauthorized musical version of Hocus Pocus.

Even with its flaws, it’s still a sweet Halloween treat. Especially it’s art direction, characters, and goofy quotes. And from it, artists have created some great poster images and fake brands. And let’s not forget mash-ups! So they are lots of images perfect for October (and if you’re a huge fan, anytime) t-shirt wearing.

Like witches, I hunted some of the coolest Hocus Pocus t-shirts so you can have more time this Halloween season to run amok! amok! amok!
