23 Book Lover’s T-Shirts Every Bookworm Should Own

by on Mar 28, 2017

My weekend was somewhat disappointing. Yes, I had lots of fun things going on from theater to fun in the California sun. But unfortunately, I did not have much time to read. And if you’re a fellow book lover, you probably like to squeeze as much reading time into your weekend as possible. As a matter of fact, a Friday of Saturday night spent reading may be just as fun as a night at a club or bar.

Book lovers are a true brother/sisterhood of their own. Though we may be spread all over this crazy world (and I have hopes our numbers are not as small as the statistics would have you believe), we all have have the same “feels” when it comes to books and reading. When you meet another book lover there’s usually an instant connection. Especially if they like many of the same books and/or authors that you like. It’s as if you already have a shared history from having experienced the same stories.

When we are in somebody’s home for the first time, we seeks out their book shelves. True book lovers still have them and they’re stocked to the point of overflowing. We learn a lot about a new friend or potential lover by the books they have on their shelves. Bonus points if they have some kind of creative shelving unit.

We may do some digital reading, but most book lovers I know love to read good old-fashioned, page turning books. The smell of a new book is like a drug. The smell of an older book evokes wonderful memories. We’re turned on by paper style and font types. Last year, I read Tom Wolfe’s Back to Blood and what I liked more than the story was the feel of the book itself.

We lament over the closure of so many bookstores. I for one have spent many a Sunday night browsing the aisles of the closest brick and mortar store. I may have to travel a little further to find a bookstore that is open late, but when I do, I feel like I’ve come home again.

Used bookstores are like a search for hidden treasures. Who knows what rare or forgotten book you’ll find. Maybe an editions you’d never seen before. I’ve found so many wonderful things in second hand stores, but the best had to be a collection of H.G. Wells’ novels in hardcover with a preface by the author himself! Yes! These are the kind of things that excite us book nerds… I mean lovers!

We’ve no problem with buying some books on-line. But instead of the best sellers, we find ourselves searching for books that nobody has ever heard of. And love to check and see what’s available used.

Oh yeah, and as for the library… that’s a holy place for us.

We love the book we’re reading, but can’t wait to get to the next one. Our reading schedule is planned out far in advance, but always ready to jump into something new if inspired. Our shelves are filled with unread books, but we know we’ll get to them all. Even those that are years old. I always say, books call us to read them at specific times.

For us, perfection is a rainy night at home with a cup of coffee or tea and a good book.

Sometimes we can’t wait to go to bed so we can get back to the book we’re reading at night. (If you’re like me, you read multiple books at one time.)

And you stay up late, because you just need to read one more chapter…

There never feels like there’s enough time to read it all. Especially in the golden age of television. But I’m sure you’d rather spend more time letting yourself do the imagining, not others.

And I, for one, consider you a book lover no matter what you read. Whether it be classics and literary novels or mysteries or horror best sellers. Political thrillers or romance novels more your thing? That’s great! Rather stick to short stories, poetry or drama (from Albee to Shakespeare). Awesome! Love those young adult paranormal romances or a good Goosebumps, age doesn’t matter. Graphic novels, comic books or even a Calvin & Hobbes collection makes you a book lover in my book. Oh yeah, and even non-fiction: politics, history, essays, literary criticism. If you can spend hour reading something, then all the power to you!

So as you lose yourself in a good book, why not also lose yourself in these cool book lover’s t-shirts. There’s a few showcasing your favorite novels:

And a few more that praise the joy of reading:
