22 Earth Day T-Shirts to Celebrate Everybody’s Favorite Planet

by on Apr 13, 2017

April 22nd is Earth Day. The day that we celebrate the planet we all share. This year it feels a little more important to take a moment to think about our environment. I’ll do my best not to make this a political article, but with roll backs in environmental protections and climate change being denied, I worry about the future of this planet. Taking it from the most objective point of view as I can, regardless if you believe in global warming or the effects of our carbon footprints, doesn’t it just make sense to take care of the place that we live?

Most of us do our best to keep a clean home/living space (some are much better at this than others, but most not for lack of trying). Nobody wants their home filled with dirt and dust and various messes. So why would you want your planet to be? Though I am one who believes that polluting the planet will have dire consequences in the future, it has even greater effects on our present. We can all agree that we like smog-less air, clean drinking water and non-toxic food. So let’s all do our part to keep things clean.

Because, not to be a downer, the earth has been here for a very long time. And it’s going to be here long after the human race is gone. So if the climate becomes an apocalyptic nightmare, it will be humans that become extinct, not that planet. Unfortunately, we’ll be taking quite a few beautiful animals and plant lives with us.

OK, I’m not your mother. So you probably won’t listen to me if I tell you to clean up after yourself, don’t litter and try to walk instead of drive when you can. So, instead, let’s together celebrate this big blue marble of a planet.

For us city and suburb dwellers, I know how easy it is to forget about the rest of the great big beautiful world out there. But while we’re running around in the hustle and bustle, the forests continue to be the playgrounds of thousands of species of furry (and not so furry) creatures. The tides ebb and flow in oceans filled with creatures beautiful and mysterious. The desserts hold a stark beauty of their own. And the Arctic and Antarctic is an immortal winter wonderland… though oddly, one is shrinking while the other is increasing.

All this life is happening, even if we don’t see it on a daily basis. But a weekend away camping, snorkeling or skiing brings us closer to the natural elements on this planet. Here’s hoping we’ll be able to enjoy these splendors for generations to come.

Nature is easy to take for granted. That’s what makes a day like Earth Day so important. Let’s take some time and show some pride on this planet we’re all spinning around the sun on together. Happy Earth Day, everybody!
