29 Simpsons T-Shirts for 29 Seasons

by on Aug 17, 2017

There is something I must admit to all my readers out there. After all these years, I… I… I still watch The Simpsons every week! And I think it’s still one of the funniest shows on television. No, they’re not all perfect episodes, and they don’t have the same impact as the early days, but they’re still well written and make me laugh a couple of times or more (usually thanks to Homer).

This September, the show begins it’s I-can’t-believe-it’s-been-on-that-long 29th season. Means it will become the longest running scripted primetime show in history. Finally beating the often teased Gunsmoke. The only thing that’s been on longer has been soap operas. But I wouldn’t be surprised if decades from now somebody’s blogging how it beat The Young & The Restless. (It has also been renewed for a 30th season, too.)

The Simpsons impact on pop culture does not seem to be lightening either. It seems like almost every other month FXX is running an Every Simpsons Ever Marathon. If you’re like me, you spend hours watching and telling yourself, just one more. And Universal Studios Hollywood recently opened a Springfield Town attraction where you could live inside the animated world (and when you’ve had enough of that, go get some butter beer at Hogsmead).

A few years ago, it looked like it was the end of the DVD releases. But they announced this year at San Diego Comic Con that season 18 will be released just in time for Christmas. Personally, I like listening to the commentaries almost better than watching the shows, because they’re pretty hilarious, and you never know who’s going to show up. And there’s always tons of deleted scenes and Easter Eggs.

And what would Halloween be without The Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror? Here I admit the earlier ones were much better than the later ones, but there’s always a fun one in the batch. And there’s nothing like a marathon of those to get you in the holiday mood. At SDCC, I got to see this year’s The Exorcist parody, and it’s as gross and silly as you hoped it would be.

I can’t even imagine a world without The Simpsons still being on. Many of you never knew time before The Simpsons. And many of you think it should have ended long ago. But I have faith in Matt Groening (rhymes with complaining) and his team, that they will continue to keep it fresh, and when it feels stale, then some other show can set its sights on beating their record for scripted prime time show.

With such a long history filled with great characters and memorable quotes, it’s difficult to narrow down what type of Simpsons shirts to round-up. So I just pulled together a mix and match from all over the show’s 29 seasons. Lots of my favorites (which I’m sure are yours, too). And some very cool designs.

Cowabunga, dudes!
