20 Florida and Texas T-Shirts: We’re Strong Together

by on Sep 08, 2017

It’s been a really rough start to the autumn season for the United States. The Northwest is engulfed in flames, Texas was hit by Hurricane Harvey, and Hurricane Irma is right on Harvey’s heels and headed straight for Florida. As Texas deals with the fallout of its storm, Florida is gearing up for its own. Some have said that Irma has the potential to “catastrophically devastate [Florida]”. Usually, Florida’s known for its theme parks and sunshine. This week, though, is looking anything but sunshiny. Irma is scheduled to hit the peninsula late this coming Thursday, and it’s projected to be the most destructive storm the state has seen since 1992’s Hurricane Andrew.

Meanwhile, in Texas, relief efforts are doing their best to help everyone clean up after the storm. All the living former presidents banded together to launch an ad to the general public, appealing for donations to the relief effort for Hurricane Harvey and Irma. While it’s true that the storm was devastating, former president Clinton said it best: “Hurricane Harvey brought terrible destruction, but it also brought out the best in humanity.”

We saw countless shop owners open their doors, converting their stores into relief centers. Aid has poured in from all over the world, including countries like Mexico and Singapore. People from all over the United States are teaming up and flying in, helping to care for the hurricane victims, rescuing stranded people and animals, and distributing supplies to those in need. Several large corporations, including Amazon and Whole Foods, managed to raise millions of dollars in support in just 24 hours. It’s a testament to what we can do when we actually work together.

As two more hurricanes gear up to hit the coastal United States in the coming week (Irma is closely followed by Hurricane Jose), it’s important that we keep up the fight, continue showing support for Florida and Texas, and stand strong. Besides, Texas and Florida? They’re two of the toughest states in the entire country. Florida’s got its gators and infamous ‘Florida Man’, and Texas is the loudest, proudest American state there is. We’re positive they can handle absolutely anything.

Relief Efforts

So, what can you do to help? There’s a number of ways to donate to hurricane relief efforts or help out directly. You can volunteer, or donate. Here’s a couple links:

  • UNICEF is providing emergency aid and will help children affected by Harvey and Irma resume their education.
  • The American Red Cross needs volunteers in Puerto Rico, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
  • The Houston Humane Society and Houston Food Bank are asking for donations.
  • Save the Children will provide relief efforts specifically for families and children affected by Hurricane Irma.
  • SPCA International supports shelters and rescue groups working with animals affected by natural disasters, including Harvey and Irma.

Still want to do more? Get the word outShow your support. The more people involved, the better. Together, we’re strong. Here’s some awesome t-shirts to show your support for Texas and Florida:

Stay together, stay strong.
