Bleach is one of those all-or-nothing Anime shows. You either love it or hate it. You’ve either seen all 366 episodes and five seasons, or none of them. It was based on the namesake manga by Tite Kubo, and voiced by incredibly notable Japanese voice actors including Masakazu Morita and Johnny Yong Bosch.
The show follows the adventures of Shinigami Ichigo Kurosaki, who possesses soul-reaping powers à la Grim Reaper. He defends humans from evil spirits and guides souls to the afterlife. The show deals with a lot of heavy subjects and is generally considered a more ‘adult’ anime than others like Naruto or FMA. Some villains seek immortality, others seek revenge, still other seek plain chaos. Ichigo has to face them all.

The show includes unique supernatural themes other anime shows lack, and manages to successfully blend romance, comedy, action, and dark themes all together into one awesome storyline. The episodes are intense and multi-layered, filled with multifaceted characters that defy stereotypes. It’s more than a “monster-of-the-week” program, and continues to top charts as one of the most beloved anime series of all time.
