Finally, Han Solo gets the limelight all for himself.
After decades of playing a role that shared and even ceded the limelight to characters such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Darth Vader and others, the brash pilot gets to be front & center in his very own Star Wars movie.
Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theatres May 25th and will be met, as any Star Wars movie is, with great anticipation. It stars Aiden Ehrenreich as Solo, who apparently received a healthy bit of advice and insight from the original Han Solo (Harrison Ford) on how to play the role. When asked what made this Han Solo different from the original, Ehrenreich had this to say: “I think the main thing that’s different is that the Han we meet in this film is more of an idealist. He has certain dreams that he follows, and we watch how it affects him as those dreams meet new realities – realities that are harder and more challenging than he’d expected.”
The supporting cast of Solo: A Stars Story is loaded, including Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, and Donald Glover. For those hoping this will follow the mold of other Star Wars movies and spin off a series of sequels, don’t count on it. George Lucas is adamant that these spin-offs will have no integration with the films in the saga.
With that said, one has to wonder how Solo: A Star Wars Story will be received. Ever since I was a little kid, I was always more intrigued by Han Solo than Skywalker, so I for one look forward to seeing a story built around him as the central character.
