Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Comics announced the release date for their Deadpool movie, on 12 February 2016, after being in development hell for years. The rumors for a solo Deadpool movie have been circulating since 2009 when the masked hero appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, played by Ryan Reynolds.
Last time he heard news about the Deadpool movie, ‘X-Men’ producer Lauren Shuler Donner said that the production is down to two decisions in order to move forward. Either make it an R-rated movie or “push the boundaries of PG-13”. She also mentioned that Deadpool will not be recast, insisting that Ryan Reynolds will portray the titular character and directed by Tim Miller.
For those of you who have no idea who Deadpool is here’s a brief description I took from comicvine:
“Wade Wilson is a former test subject of the Weapon X program, possessing a regenerative healing factor (like that of Wolverine), as well as an unstable compiling of other “Weapon X” experiments. Deadpool’s powers and personality traits combine to make a wild, mentally unstable, and unpredictable mercenary. Deadpool is a former member of X-Force, a self-professed member of the X-Men and Avengers and has recently joined the Thunderbolts. The “Merc with a Mouth” is infamous for breaking the fourth wall.”
