Sims 4 came out about a half a year ago. I can’t say I’m really into it, to be honest. I never really liked all the take me to the toilet kind of simulations. But my wife absolutely loves it, so I figured I might as well write about it.

They’ve come quite a long way since the first one was released in February 2000. Now they don’t just need to go to the toilet, they can do it on the street and then die of embaressment. But of course there’s much more than that. Since the new expansion (yes, it’s only been out for less than a year, and there’s already expansions waiting to be bought), you can visit alien planets, have Death working in your store, plant a Cow Plant, which can later eat you, or even dabble with voodoo, which means you can control certain things a Sim that you don’t own does.

There are new careers you can have fun with, new interactions, you can make stories, find new and hidden places and more. The Sims 4 has Sims that are actually showing their emotions on their faces and not just by throwing angry Sim words around. They are also smarter, and can even multitask. But I guess the thing everybody is talking about the most is the much improved way to create your Sim. It is now much easier to make your Sim look like Scarlett Johanssen, or if you’re like me and have absolutely no skill whatsoever, it’s very easy to make your Sim look ugly as hell.
