There’s a reason why there’s so many awesome crossover Pulp Fiction t-shirts out there. Pulp Fiction is arguably one of the best movies of the time. It has an amazing cast, a great soundtrack, an awesome story, and it’s so full of quotable lines one could even compare it to the Godfather.
If you’ve never seen Pulp Fiction, there is a chance you might find it just average, but that’s only because there are so many movies even today that still draw their inspiration from Pulp Fiction. Go, The Big Hit, Get Shorty, Be Cool, Very Bad Things, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels … they’re all movies heavily inspired by Pulp Fiction. There was just nothing like it at the time. It was Quentin Tarantino’s second movie, it didn’t have a very high budget, but the story and the direction were exactly on the mark. The brilliance behind it is that even gangsters are still normal people, talking about normal shit.
That’s what I like about Tarantino the most. In his movies people still seem real, no matter how over the top they are. Drunk people are just drunk, not retarded, if you know what I mean. When Jules does his Ezekiel monologue it is over the top, but we know he’s doing it to sound cool, he’s not pretending that it’s something normal. But when they’re in the car they’re talking about McDonalds and foot massages.
And if you went to a party in ’94 or ’95, someone was sure to put the Pulp Fiction soundtrack on. You just couldn’t avoid it. Even 15 years later, Black Eyed Peas made a remix of the track. And the casting? Well, it saved John Travolta’s career (for a while at least), it had Bruce Willis with a ball gag, Christopher Walken talking about a watch hidden in his ass, Uma Thurman as a famme fatale, Samuel L. Jackson delivering some of his best work, Tim Roth as a low level thief … hell even the drug dealer looked like Jesus.
Whatever the reason, unless you’re one of the about 20 people who didn’t see the movie yet, you’re gonna love these Pulp Fiction t-shirts below.
