If you liked the Sopranos, the Wire, Mad Men, or even Game of Thrones, chances are you will love Sons of Anarchy. It’s a show about men being real men. The Sons of Anarchy motorcycle gang runs the fictional Northern California town of Charming, and they do it with corrupt politics and scare-tactics. Charlie Hunnam and Ron Perlman play step son and step father, the latter as the leader of the gang and the former as the young one who was born into it, and might some day run it himself. Katey Sagal plays Gemma, Ron Perlman’s wife.

It’s definitely one of the more popular series on FX, even though it didn’t receive any Emmys, it still drew in the viewers by the millions. Now, this is a motorcycle gang series, so it’s rough and tough, but you might be interested to know that it’s loosely based on Shakespeare’s Hamlet. It’s all there, the dead father, the living step father, and the son who doesn’t know whether he wants to be the leader or not.

One of the good points of the show is also that it features a lot of guest star appearances, from Steven King, who publicly acknowledged that he’s a fan of the show before he was cast as a creepy cleaner, to Joel McHale, Hal Holbrook, Danny Trejo, Chuck Zito, Ashley Tisdale (as a prostitute, no less), and Hells Angels founder Sonny Barger. It’s also had a lot of nods of agreement from real life motorcycle gangs, which gives it a little bit more credibility.

In any case, whether you like it for the cast, the fact that it’s action packed, you simply like motorcycles, for it’s dark humor, or the messed up things that happen in it, I’m sure you’ll like it for at least one reason.
