Update: The movie is out, the critics are split in half, let us know in a comment what’s your take on it.
Next year Warner Bros will be releasing two very big DC comic movies. The first one will be Batman V. Superman, which I already wrote about here, and the second one is Suicide Squad, which should come out on August 5, 2016. I didn’t say they’re releasing two superhero movies, because the Suicide Squad aren’t superheroes, they’re supervillains. We’re pretty much getting two or three super hero movies every year now, but the bad guys aren’t really all that well represented on the big screen, which is a shame, because they do tend to be so much more interesting.
The Suicide Squad or Task Force X as they’re officially called are a group of imprisoned super villains that the US government uses for special missions that they don’t want to be associated with. If they succeed, they get their sentences reduced, if they fail and die, nobody really cares, which is how they got their nickname – the Suicide Squad. They also have microbombs implanted inside their bodies to keep them from misbehaving or running away.
It’s not really official yet, but rumors strongly suggest that Suicide Squad will have a connection to Batman V. Superman, and it should be in the form of Lex Luthor. If the speculations are correct, Luthor will rise to be the president of the United States, and he will be the one to organize the bad boy group. Either that or they will be used against him to stop him from trafficking superhumans.
The thing I’m most excited about it that Jared Leto will be playing Joker. Now, Joker is not one of the Suicide Squad, he’s locked up in a hole somewhere at this point, but his on again off again girlfriend Harley Quinn is in the Squad, and Joker is pretty much the only thing that might get her to rebel against it. Margot Robbie was cast for the role and it looks like she might steal the show as well.
This movie will be a huge success, and it will be amazing so you should really beat the crowds and flaunt your inner demons by getting one of these awesome Suicide Squad t-shirts below!
