I loved the Ice Age animated movies. They had a great story, a great cast and they all made me laugh. So I decided to give the Ice Age games a go. I’ve tried all four and to be completely honest, I thought two out of four were complete boring mindless money grabbers, the first one was half decent, and the third one, Dawn of the Dinosaurs was absolutely great.

You get to play with every major character from the movie, from Sid to Scrat, and you get to travel through basically the entire movie. The story is actually told by Sid and Diego to Peaches, who at the time of the events in the game wasn’t born yet. So basically you start the game with building the playground for the unborn mammoth and then the movie unfolds. You got through finding the dinosaur eggs, to eventually going into the dinosaur land and meeting Buck.

Every level has a boss fight, with the last one being Buck against the big grey scary dinosaur called Rudy. It even comes with a sad ending like the cartoon, since Buck decides to stay in the dino world with Rudy, since he feels his life wouldn’t really have any meaning without his great nemesis. The game offered me hours of fun and it’s really nice to go into that world. I just wish the other three games weren’t targeted to kids.

Luckily I started with the third one, so I got lucky, and I would recommend it to any fan of Ice Age. And since you’re reading this, I have to assume you are a fan, so here’s some fantastic Ice Age t-shirts that we’ve found just for you.
