What’s better for a kid than to imagine that his best friend is a bear and he’s having some really wild adventures in the middle of the jungle? That’s why I got very excited when they announced a Jungle Book movie in 2016. And if that alone wasn’t enough, the cast for the movie is amazing!
You’ve got one of my favorite actresses, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa (the snake), the legend that is Bill Murray as the fun loving bear Baloo, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera (the panther), Christopher Walken as King Louie (the gorilla). The rest of the cast includes Neel Sethi as Mowgli, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Giancarlo Esposito as Akela, Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha, and Emjay Anthony as Gray. Just as a passing note, Scarlett Johansson will also be in Disney’s 2017 Ghost in the Shell.
At D23 Expo, some of the cast members joined Jon Favrou on stage to present the first poster, which looks amazing, and they also showed the trailer which had Bill Murray humming that catchy song The Bare Neccessities. The whole thing got a standing ovation which is more than the rest of the movies shown there can say. It all point towards an exciting year for Disney, and I for one can’t wait for the movie to come out.
It will definitely be a huge success at the box office both with kids and adults. And as we’ve seen with Frozen, Minions, Home, How to Train Your Dragon, and several others, animated movies are called movies these days because they’re not merely cartoons anymore, they are something that everybody can enjoy.
