Splatoon is a truly remarkable game. I love it to bits. Yeah it’s an online shooter game, but it’s cute, full of lovely characters and heart. It’s a Nintendo game and it’s one of those games that they did just perfectly. Like Mario, everyone can enjoy it. Not that it needs to be said but Nintento is a gaming giant that is so successful that they could have negative figures for years before they would go bankrupt.

You play as an Inkling, a cute creature that can shape shift from a human or humanoid into a squid like creature. As a human you can spray ink around you, and as a squid you can dive into that ink. The squid is much faster, but it cannot fire. Now when I said it was a shooter game, I didn’t really mean it in the blood and gore sense. It’s family friendly. When you play online against another team, you goal isn’t to kill the other team, it’s simply to paint as much of the area in your own color ink as you can.

That’s not all there is to the game of course. You can also play as single player, or one on one, but the main fun is happening online. You can set traps for your opponents, and you can upgrade your weapons. It might be a bit unbalanced at first, but that eventually equals out when you upgrade your weapons. The game is innocent, full of charm and it’s very fast, so it’s enjoyable for the long run. Not to mention you can dress up your Inkling.
