Super Mario Maker is an insane idea, but like a lot of insane ideas, it’s also pretty close to genius. The idea is to take Super Mario, which is Nintendo’s diamond since they made the first game, carefully designed and pretty close to perfect, and then give it to anybody to do anything they want with it. Kind of like an open source game. They made a very intuitive level creator, and the game is amazing. You can either create levels, or you can play other people’s levels. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Here’s some of the most amazing levels thought up until now.
Did I mention that Mario doesn’t really need to walk in the levels you create? Here’s an awesome level based on Mario Kart.
When I said you don’t need to walk, I actually meant you don’t really need to be Mario at all. Here’s a Donkey Kong level.
Remember Metroid? This is a level inspired by that kind of game, where you have to find the right way to pass on to the next part of the level.
There’s even a way to get Rick Rolled in the new Mario Maker.
Then you have the levels that are close to impossible. I think it would take me forever to finish a level like this one, but this guy makes it seem easy.
And of course, as a bonus, there’s always the Asian people who have to prove how expert they are, so they make something like this.
If you’ve enjoyed these levels and have some of your own to show, leave a link in the comment below. If you simply love Mario however, make sure you get one of the awesome t-shirts below!
