He lost all of his friends in the past, including his dog in a very sad episode, but gained new friends in the future. Here’s why Futurama is one of the best animated shows ever made.
From the creators of The Simpsons, Futurama takes a similar approach. It’s funny, has some over the top characters, and perhaps most importantly, it makes you think with it’s satire. The fact that it’s set in the future, provides us with some refreshing ideas about “the past”. If you think none of it really made an impact, just look on your facebook feed. You don’t see many Simpsons or South Park memes, but you can get a Futurama one daily. Whether it’s Why not Zoidberg, I don’t want to live on this planet anymore, Take my money, or Not sure if…, they are incredibly popular.
Did you know that in one of the episodes (titled Where no fan has gone before), they reunited the cast of the original Star Trek? Yes, Fry and the gang met up with William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Walter Koenig, George Takei and Nichelle Nichols. That’s way cooler than Family Guy, where they reunited the cast of the new Star Trek generation.
And while Futurama is canceled at the moment, it’s been canceled before and it came back. The characters themselves will make a guest appearance in the Simpsons soon, and you never know when the actual show might be picked up again.
