ExploreWarhammer is basically some of the coolest shit ever invented. The Warhammer universe is just amazing and has influenced every fantasy world created after it’s introduction back in the early 80’s. Yes, even Warcraft got a lot to thank Warhammer for, as Warcraft is more or less a clone of Warhammer.
It all started as a science fantasy tabletop miniature game produced by Games Workshop and moved to our PC after. I’m ashed do admit I never played the tabletop version of the game so I’m basically clueless about it. But I read some of the books and I played all the video games.
One of my favorite game from the Warhammer 40k franchise is Dawn of War and even though it was released in 2004 I still play it today. The game is set on Tartarus, an Imperial planet besieged by orc forced. Yeah, this game has orcs, and they’re not your usual orcs. Imagine how cool it is to see an orc with a big ass chainsaw sword in his right hand and a gun in his left hand. Warhammer gives you that! And the battles are amazing, with awesome melee battles and corpses laying all over the battleground.
When it was released everyone was hyped about it and how balanced the factions and units are,although some players said that the campaign was kind of short. Trust me, if you get Dawn of War and all its 3 add-ons, Winter Assault, Dark Crusade and Soulstorm you’ll have countless hours of gameplay. Not to mention you’ll get access to all 9 factions and dozens of new units and maps. You’ll love the Necrons, they’re my favorite faction in all the Warhammer universe. Too bad they didn’t include them in Dawn of War 2. The Necrons are a mysterious race of robotic warriors that wake up from their 60 million years sleep to reconquer the Universe.
I also recommend you watch Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40k Movie and after that read Eisenhorn Omnibus by Dan Abnett to get you started on the Warhammer universe. I know the graphics are a bit crappy after today’s standards but a true gamer know a great game isn’t about how good the graphics are, but a game that you play for hours and it seems like minutes.
