20 Frankenstein Shirts to Make You Feel Alive, Alive, ALIVE!!!

Of all the Universal Monsters, the one that had the most unique, yet memorable look is Frankenstein. (OK, I know and you know that Frankenstein was actually the mad scientist, Victor Frankenstein, and the monster he created should technically be called Frankenstein’s Monster… BUT for the sake of this article, I’m going to refer to him as Frankenstein. Because that is how Universal billed the character, and this blog is specifically about that incarnation. OK?)) There’s no forgetting that long, rectangle, flat head, with scars and those two simple bolts on its neck… and in later movies, shown with a green skin tone. And such long hands (with nicely manicured and painted nails). Yes, officer, this was the guy we saw:

Unforgettable. The wonderful Boris Karloff will live forever as this not-so-jolly green giant. He played the famous monster in only three of the Universal movies, but the only name that springs to mind when one things classic Frankenstein. Lon Chaney, Jr. may be a close second. (Fun fact, did you know that Dracula himself, Bela Lugosi, played Frankenstein in Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman. As well as playing Igor in two of the other Universal Frankenstein films).

We cannot talk about the Universal Frankenstein without mentioning the Bride of Frankenstein. It’s just possible that this is the first case where the sequel was better than the original, well, as classic campy horror movies go. The image of the Bride of Frankenstein may be even more memorable than the original monster. Mostly because of her towering hair, and her ability to point and scream.

These movies took a great deal of liberty with Mary Shelley’s classic novel. In that, the monster was actually rather intelligent, and demanded Victor Frankenstein to make him a companion. Other adaptations have told a more classic version of the story, but again, it is the image of this Frank and his Bride that are most remembered.

There’s nothing like the classic Frankenstein look to enhance your Halloween (or everyday) wardrobe:

From the complex, to the simple:

This icon of horror is a great subject of parody:

And my personal favorite:

And if the breakfast cereals were a little more realistic, Frankenberry would look something like this:

And they make a cute couple not matter how you spin it:

And don’t forget:

And hey, if you want to be really creative, buy a few of these shirts, cut them up and sew different pieces of them together to create your own original shirt. The you’d “know what it feels like to be God!” Or at least a TeeHunter.

Happy Haunting!
