I mean, Monty Python and the Holy Grail had such a low budget that they couldn’t afford horses, so instead they used the coconuts to make horse sound effects. What began as a budgeting issue ended (with a few well-timed, very British jokes for effect) as one of the most iconic moments of Monty Python history.
Monty Python shorts and films are known for witty one-liners, British humor guaranteed to put you in stitches, and an overall signature cleverness that has no comparable equal. Everyone should see at least one Monty Python film in their life. Once you do, those one-liners stick with you forever. Jokes like The Spanish Inquisition, and, I didn’t vote for you! and, Tis but a scratch! and, You make me sad have become everyday vocabulary. They’re infused into pop culture, and it’s a near crime not to be familiar with their source.
I mean, the insulting Frenchman has to be one of the most-quoted scenes from any Monty Python film. Fun fact: during Game of Thrones, in the episode “Breaker of Chains”, the Mereenese champion insults Danaerys. The insults he throws at her are Monty Python quotes, the ones from this scene below, just translated into Valyrian.
