There’s no doubt that SDCC shifted into full gear on Friday. The floor was insane and there were more lines than at a rock concert afterparty!
I started the day on the floor. You never know who you’ll run into there…
Then I was off to the rooms to check out some of the programming. I admit that I only went into the Marvel Now panel to camp out for the following panel. But I was intrigued by some of their new characters. Slapstick, who they say is like Roger Rabbit meets The Punisher. And the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. They may be titles worth seeking out.
It was a treat to see Berkeley Breathed speak about his return to Bloom County, and how he came up with some of his ideas.
Entertainment Weekly Fan Favorites was a nice collection of TV actors like Brandon Routh and … But I was there to see Tom Ellis and Bruce Campbell. Ash and Lucifer on the same panel!?!? Damn! As you can imagine, Bruce stole the show.
I got to see the pilot of the new Exorcist TV series. It was very well shot, had the flavor of the original movie and very respectful of it. I felt the story was a little rushed, but guess that’s what they have to do for TV. But it was great to see Geena Davis:
I could not get into the screening of Batman: The Killing Joke. But friends saw it and said it was absolutely amazing. And the panel got a phone call from Mark Hamill.
And there was lots of cosplay!
The family that cosplays together…
Is this a gaggle of Kylo Rens? Or probably a murder.
Hogworths must have changed their admission policies.
Where’s Superman?
Oh, he was hanging outside:
And my theme of the day was BB-8.
