Fallout 4 T-Shirts: Prepare for the Nuclear Apocalypse

Are you prepared for inevitable Nuclear Fallout? Do you have your name on a Vault-Tec list? Have you lost your son, found a suit of power armor, and explored the wastes of the Commonwealth, helping settlements calling for aid from the Minutemen, rescuing Synths via the Railroad, or joining up with the Brotherhood of Steel? Or perhaps you chose a darker, more morally questionable route with the Institute.

Cool. Me too.

One of my favorite parts of Fallout 4 is the versatility of the gameplay. Whatever your gameplay style, Fallout 4 has a path you can take. Me? I always go for long-range stealth builds, but Fallout 4 quickly had me switching to a battle-hardened, straight-laced soldier build, mostly because that’s who the main character seems to be at the start of the game.

The game is laced with dark humor and satire. I mean, you have the option to follow the most sarcastic, salty robot in the Commonwealth around on various quests and the ability to turn your own character into the most sarcastic anti-heroic asshole of them all. Don’t be fooled, though, for all its humor, Fallout 4 is a philosophically beautiful game with a rich set of interlacing plotlines.

The game is built around the concept of a sole-survivor doing whatever it takes to bring their child home, come hell or high water. While many morally ambiguous choices come up in the game to challenge the player, you always have the option to do the ‘right thing’ (or the ‘wrong’ thing if you prefer…).

The people living in the wasteland called ‘The Commonwealth’ might be a little bitter and depressed (but honestly, who wouldn’t be in the case of total atomic annihilation?), but you still have the option to help them rebuild and create a semblance of normalcy in the new world. It’s a game about war, sure, but it’s also a game about the power of the human spirit. Hope is still out there, but when the apocalypse happens, you kind of have to create your own.

And as philosophically beautiful the game is, it’s also visually stunning. While it definitely has a different flavor from Bethesda’s other franchise, Elder Scrolls, Fallout is one of those games that feels so raw. There’s something beautiful about the way the wasteland stretches out in front of you, tied together with broken bridges and overpasses, sometimes rolling with green clouds that kill everything in their wake, sometimes glistening in the light of a new sun. Even if you don’t get too much into the roleplaying aspect of the game, the Commonwealth itself is a gorgeous place to explore.

Whether you enjoy playing a sniper, a rogue, a soldier, a thief, mad scientist, field medic, or any other character build your heart desires, there’s one thing that every sole-survivor needs: to be prepared for nuclear fallout.
