The Beatles. What can be said about them that has not already been said? Legendary? Check. Trailblazers? Yep. Helpful for the pollination of crops? Whoops, wrong beetles. Iconic, uncommon, and unforgettable, The Beatles were the original teenage heartthrobs, and they twisted and shouted their way into the homes of millions of adoring fans since 1960. They forever revolutionized the world of music, making habitual drug use an industry standard (as well as other, less important, stuff too). The Beatles are a band so exalted that it can be difficult to imagine all of their greatness squared away into a single t-shirt. Well, one Beatles t-shirt can’t handle all of that musical genius. And that is why we will try to sum their greatness into thirty-two different ones. Let’s get started.
The Beatles were trendsetters. Despite (or possibly because of) parents’ universal objections, they made it cool to rock out and they made it cool to be hippie. From their music and lyrics to their accents and the literal hair on their faces, The Beatles are admired and emulated in every way. Where would we be without those circular stoner glasses? What is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off without “Twist and Shout?”
Their choices in clothing continue to play a large role in the fashion industry today. For example, do you remember what John Lennon was wearing on 30 August 1972 at Madison Square Garden? Because we do. What about that classic New York City t-shirt? People still love it.
Not to be outdone, you could even say people like to imitate the way they walked. (At the very least, they really impacted crosswalk safety). From a galaxy far, far away…
…to the pedestrian-friendly Mordor…
…all types of creatures, critters, and comic strip cartoons have strutted their stuff just like The Beatles.
More than walking, they have influenced other methods of transportation as well. Unless you are a sailor or an eccentric aquatic mammal, you would never have thought to ride in a submarine without The Beatles.
And despite the difference in letters, we can probably be certain they helped the success of Volkswagen too.
They even normalized flight as a regular mode of transportation. Who hasn’t utilized their trusty exoskeleton from time to time? Oh wait, wrong beetles again.
The Beatles transformed the world with their songwriting. Advocating both social and political change, they infused real meaning into their lyrics (as well as other less significant and more walrus-related meaning).
With their music, The Beatles revealed new opportunities anytime someone hears “Na na na na…” Thanks to them it is not only Batman, but Jude too!
The Beatles are so greatly adored that you might dare say that they have reached myth status. Partying with Jesus, Zeus, and Cthulhu in the Myth Club, they are among good company.
Continuing to hold their rock solid place as one of the greatest of all time, The Beatles are not simply confined to music textbooks. They affected more than that, sparking political change, social upheaval, and international understanding. Ambassadors in music and agents of peace, The Beatles were a movement in and of themselves. They can’t, won’t, and will never be forgotten.
