23 Lego T-Shirts for All You Master Builders

If there’s one story from my childhood that may bring you to tears, it’s this: I never had Legos. Yes, I spent my entire youth without the famous building blocks from Denmark. My parents were not wicked beings who denied me the pleasure of these toys. I had plenty of superhero and Star Wars toys to play with. But for some reason, Legos were not on my kid radar.

But like many of my friends, I’m constantly reliving my childhood in this golden age of pop culture. Legos are hotter than ever. There are stores in almost every mall. There are sets based on almost every major property: Star Wars, Disney, Harry Potter, Batman and so many others. These sets can range from something simple that will take only a few minutes to put together, to more complex sets that may take months. Remember the Lego Death Star from Spider-Man: Homecoming?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know Legos are not only being featured in movies, but they’re now feature movies. I remember being skeptical about The Lego Movie. How could you make a movie about a kids toy? It was sure to be one big commercial, right? Wrong! It was fun, funny and had a nice message to it. They had me by the second verse of “Everything is Awesome!”

When I think they couldn’t top that, they follow it up with The Batman Lego Movie. Now, I’m a huge Batman fan, and this film, while poking fun at the character, was also a loving tribute to him. So many obscure references I thought only I knew! And Will Arnett may be the best Batman ever!

And what’s next? The Lego Ninjago Movie. OK, I admit I don’t have any idea what Ninjago is. I know it’s based on the Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu TV series, but have never seen an episode. Still, I’m excited to see the movie because Lego has proved that they not only create great play sets, but they’re also master builders of movies.

The most amazing thing about Lego is that most of these playlets are created from already established pieces. These mammoth sets spring from the basic blocks we grew up with. So as much as I love all these Lego mash-ups, there’s nothing better than the classic Lego. Simple, colorful, but with a little imagination you could build just about anything.
