Valentine’s Day T-Shirts: 18 Geek Love T-Shirts for The Geeky (and Nerdy) Lover

by on Feb 02, 2017

Brace yourself! Valentine’s Day is coming! The most romantic holiday of the year is filled with some great expectations from your significant other, and perhaps for yourself. It’s something that we should begin planning at the beginning of the year, but if you’re like me and most people in this world, you wait to the last minute. And when it comes to ordering something on-line, this is the last minute!

First of all, look on the bright side. You have somebody special in your life. Regardless if it’s your long time companion or a temporary romance or other, you’re lucky. If you were like me, it took a long time to find somebody special. So congratulations. (And if you don’t have anybody, don’t give up, the perfect partner may show up in the near future.)

And if your special friend is also a geek like yourself, then you’re even luckier. Not only do you get to share all your favorite fandoms with each other, but shopping for holidays, birthdays and Valentine’s Day should be a cinch. Unfortunately, my significant other is not a geek, but I am often showered with thoughtful geek gifts. So if you’re not a geek and your other half is, this blog may help you find a nice Valentine’s Day gift for them.

Most geeks have a different sense of romance than non-geeks. Flowers and candy are nice, but sonic screwdrivers and 24-sided dice are nicer. And instead of love stories like Romeo & Juliet or The Notebook, they prefer the love stories of Spider-Man and Mary Jane, Serenity‘s Wash and Zoe and Big Bang Theory‘s Sheldon and Amy. But the biggest of geek romances has to be Han Solo and Princess Leia.

Even a tough rebel Princess can fall in love. And when it’s with an arrogant smuggler all sorts of sparks are gonna fly. It was sad to see their love did not last light years, but it was obvious they still loved each other to the very end. Most people are looking for the yin to their yang. Geeks are looking for the “I love you” to their “I know.”

I’ve been going easy on geeks here, showing them in a kinder light. But when it comes to romance, most of us geeks are… well… a little awkward. Sometimes we don’t know how to act around the ones we care about. Waiting for them to make the first move. And terrified when and if they do. That may be why Doctor Who appeals to us. There was certainly some romantic tension between Rose and The Doctor, as well as Martha Jones and even Amy Pond (and let’s not forget Captain Jack). But with the exception of River Song, the Doctor was a little too shy to get romantic with any of these folks. And that’s what made them and us love him more.

Some of the more serious geeks (dare we call them nerds) may be seen as a little stiff, or robotic to others. But true geek and geek lovers know that even robots can find love.

Or, if you’re more of a Disney Geek, you want to find somebody even if your heart is frozen.

As a society, it’s true we are moving away from the idea of a Prince Charming riding to rescue us and sweep us off our feet. But having somebody come to our rescue does not mean we’re helpless, just that we need a little help. And true love is finding somebody who will keep coming to look for you, even if you’re in another castle.

In life and in video games, it’s great when you no longer have to go it alone.

Somebody you can say those three little words to.

Somebody who completes you.

Your significant other will be charmed if you show pride in your love of them.

But it may not hurt to hint at some romance.

If your other half is more of a tech geek, we got you covered.

It may be correct to state that while all nerds are geeks, not all geeks are nerds. But nerd love is a close cousin of geek love. Nerds can be romantic to the Nth degree.

So don’t waste any more time. Get to planning the geekiest of Valentine’s Day for your favorite geek/nerd. Before you know it, you’ll hear those two magic words: I know.
