This Earth Day, Buy a Tee and Plant a Tree!

by on Apr 05, 2016

I have to say, hands down, Earth is the best planet to live on. It’s so green and lush, with lots of oceans and lake, as well as a ton of wildlife that runs the gambit from adorable to terrifying. Do any of the other planets in this system have any of that? Not that I know of.

Sadly, with so many humans living on Earth for so many years, it has taken a bit of a toll on the environment of this cool planet. Back in 1970, Earth Day was established to bring awareness to the environmental needs of our planet. By 1990, it had become a, well, global event.

If you’re like me, you recycle, try to leave a smaller carbon footprint and never litter. But sometimes that doesn’t feel like enough. So what else can one do to give back to the planet that gave us so much? Buy a tee.

No, not a tree, a tee. But, if you buy a tee from DesignByHumans’s Eco-Collection this month, you will help get some new trees planted. DesignByHumans has partnered with the National Forest Foundation, a company established to cultivate forests for today and the future. For every tee DesignByHumans sells, the National Forest Foundation will plant a tree. It couldn’t get any easier. You’ll be responsible for bringing a new tree into our world, but won’t even have to get your hands dirty. Unless your computer keyboard is filthy, but I’m not one to judge.

And if planting a tree by buying a tee weren’t awesome enough, you also get a cool nature themed shirt! DesignByHumans had their artists create some “out of this world” designs for our world. I hope our planet doesn’t get any hotter, but there’s no doubt these artists will!

They’ve got a number of Yanmos’s designs. At first glance, many of them look like simple nature designs, but on close inspection, they are much more complex. Like his “Earth Tree,” which has all the continents connects in a single tree. And “Rethink” which is a barcode transforming into blades of grass.

Hinterlund’s designs are filled with unique patterns making up some of our favorite animals and nature scenes. My personal favorite is “Coastal Redwood Sunset Sketch” because of the use of those great background colors.

I know most of you love mash-ups, having your favorite character pretending to be another one of your favorite characters. Many of the tees in the Eco collection are also mash-ups. Some of my favorites come from Timea. Timea mashes-up DNA strands with trees, a deer with butterflies and has a great interpretation of Mother Nature.

And the futuristic world looses its battle with nature in Machmigo’s “No More Machines.”

These are just a few of the cool designs available for this promotion. Others feature the Earth herself, as well as the numerous creatures and elements you will find on it (trees, mountains, etc.). Your message could be as overt at “Stop Climate Change” or a more subtle “Hope.”

On this Earth Day, and every day to follow, you’ll not only be able to show off an amazing new shirt from DesignByHumans, but also get to brag that you helped get a tree planted… or two… or three… or more! I couldn’t think of a nicer planet to make more green.
